bee hotel (apparently)

Herself has left a number of jobs for me to do whilst she’s off gallivanting; some are probably no more than minor diversions designed to occupy my time in her absence and stop me from finishing off the Christmas goodies.

I found the walnut whips last night.  Now there’s a name …. what were they thinking?

This ‘bee hotel’ (as it says on the box) was Anniemay’s secret Santa present and one of the jobs on my list is to fixi it to a garden wall; “in a nice place”.

I get my drill, screw, rawlplug and screwdriver and wander around the garden.  Not always a good idea; the squirrels have dug up a pot full of tulip bulbs.  Some they’ve carried off, others they’ve left lying around half eaten.  Hmm.

The bee hotel is in a ‘nice place’ and I step back to admire my handiwork (do all men do this?  If so, the additional time required clearly needs adding into the job schedule. I’m now behind).

It occurs to me that it needs painting with some sort of preservative.  Probably in a colour designed to appeal more to humans than bees.  Unless we go for blue.

This is beyond my current remit and so I remove the beehive from the wall and await further instructions.  In the meantime, I get out my camera.
