At the museum again - not so busy as Boxing Day which was very windy, but a fair number of people out for a walk in the intermittent sunshine, some of them upwards!
The flat bit of chalk was caused by an unsuccessful attempt to halt erosion in the 19th century by dynamiting the cliff! More here. Look for the poem called "Powder and Chalk". Also Charles Dickens account in "Household Words", 1850.
