Day lilies

Every year I'm convinced they're not going to flower, there seems to be no sign of the buds and then suddenly the buds are there and almost as soon as they appear the flowers follow

These ones from the front garden are always the first; even with such dismal weather as we've been having the front garden is mucg warmer than the back and far less shaded by trees and fences and all the climbers

They seem too exotic to be so easy to grow; stick them in and wait and in three or four years you need to split the clumps and spread them around the garden or amongst your friends
