Life's Little Moments

One of our most common yard-birds is the white-breasted nuthatch.  It's not uncommon for me to see 3 or 4 at any given time, hitching up tree trunks, hanging off feeders and just generally being uber-cute. And they all have little rusty-colored bottoms, as seen here.  They are also quite tame and can be easily convinced to take seeds from your hand.  You'll probably see more of them feature in blips as the winter months stretch out ahead of me and choice of birds is fairly slim.

My runner up today is a fluffy titmouse, in Extra, and I've posted two other shots on Flickr, starting HERE with a woodpecker-bokeh shot.

Thanks for all the love on my cardinal yesterday.  I forget sometimes how lucky I am to live in an area where cardinals are so abundant.   When I stop to think about it, it's pretty amazing to have a bright red bird visiting our yard!  And Mom appreciated all the birthday messages from around the world - thank you!

Sun finally came out today, although temps never got out of the 30's.  A few snow showers are expected tonight, but no accumulation and it will all change over to rain overnight.  I may hate myself for saying this, but I actually wouldn't mind seeing some snow...

Only a few more days left in 2015...

TTFN,
Debbi
