Returning to Normal

The Wharfe Valley is returning to normal after the horrendous flooding of the past few days

I could drive to both Otley and Ilkley today with ease, both roads had been closed here when the river had burst its banks. Lots of the stone walls so famous in Yorkshire have collapsed, so strong was the force of water and lots of large debris including uprooted trees are strewn around the area.

Shopping in Ilkley, it was hard to imagine the chaos that had been there two days ago.

Passing Betty's the windows were filled with tempting treats just in case we hadn't eaten enough in the last week.
