From Shanghai to Stirling castle

They say if you are only going to see one castle in Scotland then make it Stirling castle.

So we took our Chinese visitors there this afternoon and asked for an audio guide in Mandarin.
“Sorry,” said the pleasant woman at the ticket office: “ but we only do English, Spanish and French.”

Well, this wasn’t a problem since our guests spoke excellent English.

However,  as we toured the castle I could not help but notice the high percentage of Chinese visitors and it got me thinking – how many of them would have appreciated an audio guide in Mandarin? So at the end of our tour I added a comment suggesting this.

As for my photo of the day well, this was taken by Sherry, our Chinese student, because the reflections of the light in the castle courtyard reminded her of Shanghai.

A new innovation since my last visit are the audio sounds in the castle kitchen and smell of fresh breadmaking.
