Marjorie's ramblings

At last the rain stopped

Today dawned clear and fine. Roads near here were still flooded but, at least no more water was added. It has been/is terrible for those in the path of the deluge.

I went out to enjoy the afternoon sunshine at Limestone Corner. That is the place where the course of Hadrian's Wall changed because the Romans could not move the stones. The stone is the very hard whin stone, not limestone at all.

I had wide open views to the north with sunshine glinting on the farms and villages. There was deep water in the ditch. My image is the tips of soft rush. It is very hardy so it will not be damaged by this unexpected bath!

Margret managed to travel by train home from Macclesfield and be only 1 hour behind schedule due to nifty footwork and not doing what British Rail told her. They wanted her to go to Preston then take a bus to Carlisle. She chose to go via York and Newcastle. It was a very good decision because there has been a landslide between Hexham and Haydon Bridge in the west, so no trains between Hexham and Carlisle. NO buses have been provided to help people on the onward journey because of the state of the roads.

PS I thought the image might look better in mono, but I'm not convinced. I've posted it so you can see what you think.  Both look better on black of course.
