In search of a Tui...

... on a boxing day walk.
People say the south island reminds them of Scotland, but have they ever been to the north island? We took the ferry to Okahai Island and went for a hike. It felt like the Scotland of my childhood memories with song birds in the place of the midges. The views were spectacular, the paths were well laid out and the maps were clear. We had a fantastic walk with spectacular views around every corner and went for a dip when we reached Paradise Bay. The sea was chilly but warmer than I remember it from my childhood - maybe the rash vest kept me warm. I wish I had had one when I took swimming lessons from the pier at Glenelg.
