Memorial

The old church in Cullen dates back to the 13th Century. It's almost on our doorstep, and today we wandered around the churchyard.

There are stones of many styles, most pre-1900 and many dating back much further - I can see me getting many future blips there! This stone is interesting: it commemorates a couple who died in the 1690s, and indeed it's of a very old fashioned type. However, it's in relatively very good condition, and when I looked at the photo later I noticed that the incription in the centre part, picked out in moss, seems to say it was erected in 1838(?) - presumably by a descendant, to replace the original stone.
