If I Could Only Be Sure..

Bonjour Blipfoto!

Hello Everyone!

This is my first day as a member of Blip Foto! First of all I would like to thank Louise for introducing me to this site; I hope you haven't inadvertently created a monster!

Since having a quick browse around, I have been in awe of the creativity expressed by everyone's work. I feel somewhat apprehensive about following in your footsteps, but also excited about how I can use this website to regain some of the spontaneity of creativeness that I feel I have sadly lost due to embarking on a scientific career.

In my everyday work as a medical doctor in a large NHS hospital, I feel that my consciousness has become saturated with sickly medical jargon and biased drug information and that my creativity is now entangled in an ever constricting web of procedure and logical thought.

However, I hope the website will provide a creative outlet for me both visually and mentally, and allow me to rekindle some of my unbridled passion for finding the art/humour and sometimes tragedy in the everyday things that life has to offer.

As for my first photo, this was taken on my mobile phone as I did not have my camera to hand (sorry!). The image is of the outside wall of the Tate Modern gallery in London. I love the scale of the art piece and the intimidation it provokes -it made me think about differents aspects of art and the media (including the role and place of photography in modern society), but I dont want this first post to be some sort of boring modern art lecture so I'll let you consider them in your own time (if you want to).

I think the main point I wanted to make is that I thought this image would make a great introduction to my Blipfoto portfolio (on both superficial and more deeper levels), and I hope that on at very least an aesthetic level you enjoy it.
