Lutheran Cathedral

As there was some misunderstanding about my blip yesterday I went downtown in Reykjavik and took this picture of the Lutheran Cathedral.

It was built by drunken Danes in 1788 as the story goes and you an read all about it here and it is the story of most buildings in Iceland - we didn't get rid of the damp until we had the hot water to heat our houses.

As there were no roads in Iceland until long after I was born all material on land was transported on sledges in the winter when there was snow over everything and drawn by the small but strong Icelandic horses.

Direction of location: Picture taken north-east. and I just discovered when I choose "open detailed map" and write e.g. June 2012 in the slot: Filter this map by date, I get all the locations of the pictures, the pictures on the bottom and when I click on them I get the blip - this is great and if you didn't know it before you should try it.
