Getting There

I am so my mother's daughter when getting ready for a houseful of guests. Except for the part where she never let things get out of hand, I mean, her house was generally spiffo all the time and she would give it all a good going over in the days leading up anyway. I'm like her in that I like things to be tidy, to know where things are, to not have to completely rearrange just to find a place to put stuff. I'm not like her in that I figure, why dust the mantle when it's still two days out, it'll be dusty again. So, it all becomes hectic, harried, and a bit too much at the last minute. Plus, why is Christmas music so damned tiresome.
