Dingo in Fremantle
I have blipped this site before but from a different angle. Each angle presents different challenges and opportunities.
The Dingo Flour Sign is a well-known landmark in North Fremantle, so much so that The Heritage Council has placed the site on the Heritage register as a landmark quality.
The dingo logo is about four storeys high. It was painted over during World War II, but its outlines were still faintly visible.
Refugees and migrants coming to Fremantle Port saw the sign, and it still remains a useful reference point for boaters and anglers.
The Dingo is reputed to have been painted by Alan Bond a high profile business man of years gone by, and the backer of Australia II in the Americas win over the USA.
This angle highlights some of the massive storage silos holding grain for flour production.
