Sun set on the Lyell
Yesterday we decided to zip through to Nelson for the night, as the boys and my husband wanted to go to the pictures. We booked into a motel in Nelson, and while the lads went to see 'Men in Black III', I stayed back in the motel and caught up on my blip comments. A very productive evening!
We were just about going to bed, when there was a huge amount of shaking that went on for about 45 to 60 seconds. We were just about going to duck for cover, when it calmed down. The earthquake that we had just felt was registered as a magnitude 7, and centered of the coast of Opunake in the North Island. Thank goodness it was 230km deep, or there would have been significant damage.
We arrived into Murchison late this afternoon, and there, right in front of us, was this terrific sunset over the Lyell ranges. These are the same mountains that were in my blip yesterday.
