West Hay

More shopping this morning with partial success.

Then keeping up with tradition, we headed for the Somerset levels to try and watch the starlings roost on the nature reserve. Arrived an hour before sunset and armed with bikes and cameras we headed for West hay. The RSPB hotline informed us that the starlings had roasted there the night before.

We were in luck and, although in previous years we've seen larger clouds, I am guessing around a couple of hundred thousand birds swooped in, danced around the sky and promptly dropped to the floor just before the sun set. Bikes were a must have again as you can cover ground much faster.

Tea at the Sidcot arms on the way home.

The girls are out ice skating now. Hopefully there is still some ice left...
