Dear Green Place
Work took me to Glasgow today.
It was only when I got to Queen Street station that the significance of last year's tragic bin lorry crash fully dawned on me.
The flowers left in memory in George Square told their own sad story.
Glasgow Cathedral, at noon, hosted a memorial gathering.
My meeting did not finish until 1300. Somehow, business transactions pale into insignificance in the light of the tragedy that befell all those families caught up in last year's tragedy.
My journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow and back by train was smooth and comfortable unlike the new Borders railway that only has two carriages crammed to overflowing. To open a new railway and not have enough trains to operate on it seems a big mistake. No doubt someone will blame the English for it. It will never be our Scottish Government's fault!
The Scottish Government will be praised to the heavens for re-opening the FRB tomorrow, two weeks early!!! (Not sure, however, that the HGV operators will be happy with their ban continuing.)
