Itawaka

We headed to Itawaka for some different snorkelling today, the reef here being much steeper and attracting a different bunch of fish.

Post lunch it was time to cast a line - balanced precariously on a rock right on the edge of the drop off. Almost first try and something grabbed the lure. It then commenced a jet propelled descent of the reef and I had to dive off the rock to keep the line away fron the coral, hoping I didn't slip off the edge.

A few minutes of determined tug of war and this beautiful bluefin trevally at my feet. No chance of returning it though, Ali - our speedboat driver - was straight on it. Soon enough the fish was on a spit over a driftwood fire and a small crowd had gathered to enjoy a late lunch...
