Sad Day
Today was my Aunty Margaret's funeral in Troon. We went for breakfast in Nero and then went to pick Mum up. Mum wasn't feeling too good so she decided not to travel the 2 hours to get there. She was so pleased that we had gone through to Troon in September and had a nice lunch with Aunty Margaret, my cousin Hazeland John her husband. Mum and Aunty M then had a nice chat together and we walked along the seafront at Troon with Breagha to let them have a chinwag in peace. Anyway, we the. Popped into Dunblane for my brother who as usual wasn't ready so were delayed a bit more..... We cut it very fine and I was also bursting for the toilet so had to be rushed into the toilet at the church and as I came out the minister was starting ......
It was a lovely service in a lovely church called St Meddans. Aunty Margaret was a member here for over 40 years, and was also an Elder. She was much thought of in the Community, and there was a big turn out for her funeral. Hazel stood up and gave a wonderful eulogy about her Mum. It was so touching and so emotional. I was very proud that she read through it without breaking down, although her voice wavered on many occasions she found the strength to keep talking. She to,d me later this was the first time she had managed to read through it all without crying.
After that we then drove to the Crematorium in Ayr for the short service there. The vicar at the end mentioned that the family wanted the congregation to help themselves to a flower and waved his arms around. Unfortunately a lot of people took some from the Crematorium display!!
We all then headed back to the Lochgreen Hotel in Troon for a tea which was really nice. After that we went back to Hazel's for a cuppa and more chat.
My mum is the only one of their generation left. Aunty Margaret was the oldest of the Hally family, oldest of 5, with my Dad being in the middle of 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
This is one of the trees in the hotel.
