Mistletoe
With a full moon on Christmas Day, the technically correct time for cutting the mistletoe would be the fifteenth of January. Call me Mr Naughty Druid but I'm going to harvest a little of Balder's Bane before then.
Of course, what little we know about Druids and Mistletoe was written by Pliny and reinvented by Stukeley, and so we really have no idea of the original inspiration for the rituals bound around the plant.
Not that that matters a bit. Solstice approaches, and the Sun awaits his rebirth. The long night is almost upon us, and feasting and family lie ahead.
