Waiting for the bus home from Princess Street
First day in Edinburgh. We took the car down the Lanark Road and parked part the way into the city and walked the Union Canal towards the city centre. Passing though Princess Street Gardens and the Christmas Market we ended up at John Lewis's for lunch (of soup and bread) and a free coffee and scone for afterward.
A short stroll took us up to the Royal Mile and onto Bank Street and a quick browse around Coda Records before catching the 44 back to the car and on back to Balerno.
We walked the canal in the summer, racing to get to John Lewis's to use another free voucher. It's a pleasant 5 mile hop to the the east end of the city from where we park the car. This shot was taken as the 44 to Balerno arrived. I liked the reflections and was pleased by the way in came out despite the low light.
In the evening we went to the Queen's Hall to see Phil Cunningham and pals in their annual Christmas Party. Very good too, featuring Eddi Reader, Karen Mathieson, Kris Drever, Kevin Irvine, Ian Carr and John McCusker singing and playing tradition carols and Christmas songs as well as variations on well known songs and their own compostions. A very good evening despite having to peer around pillars obstructed the views somewhat.
