Waxwing
Normally when I go to a specific location to track down a bird for my list I see everything but. Today I visited the RSPB reserve at Old Moor near Barnsley because of sightings of a Waxwing.
I walked through reception, stepped into the reserve.... there was the bird in a tree no more than 10 feet away! It stayed put for a few minutes before flitting off elsewhere. I did catch glimpses of it throughout the day but nowhere near as good as that first view. There was only one thing to do after that early result, head to the excellent café for coffee and toasted teacake!
The extra shot is of a very confiding Robin.
