Christmas Carols

I was so lucky today to have the morning off so I could help with the school Christmas carol concert at the village church. The school had asked for some mummy helpers and I couldn't resist putting my name down.

There were 10 of us in total so we all had our own little person plus two extras to look after on the walk to church. P and I had two nice little girls with us and we all had a good giggle. I did feel bad though when after just 5 minutes one of the girls tripped and grazed her knee! "Oh great I thought, why did this happen to me?" I didn't feel quite so useless though when a little while later a little boy walked into a lamppost! Ouch!

The concert was fabulous. There was singing from the school choir, music played on recorders, violins, saxophones and flutes, several readings and best of all was the singing from the congregation. 500+ children all singing beautiful songs really brought a tear to my eye. I'm not usually an overly emotional person but it brought back so many wonderful memories of my own childhood. Songs I haven't heard for many years. I just couldn't help myself!

Once the children were back at school it was time for their Christmas lunch. It smelt delicious and I wished I could stay but It was time to head into work.
