Mam Tor, or the fate of the A625

No work today, in fact not until Monday, so I didn't get up until 8am.  But that meant that I wasn't ready in time to join either of the two Ramblers' Walks I'd got my eye on.  So I thought I'd go on a walk anyway, but after running a couple of errands locally it was lunchtime before I got into the Peak District, meaning that I didn't have time to go far before dark. Oh well.

I parked at the end of the New Road and walked up the side of Mam Tor, turning often to look back at the wrecked tarmac road.  There were very few people about, which wasn't surprising given the light drizzle, and although I didn't walk far at least I got some fresh air in lovely surroundings.

The main photo is over the Edale valley to Kinder Scout.
Extras are the same as here, part of the New Road as was and the hole in the side of the hill.
