Why?
Who needs an expensive scream inducing fairground ride when with the wave of a bus pass one can enjoy the very same excitement on a Lothian's #35 bus as it lurches and rattles down to Leith?
We got the thrill this morning on the way to Ocean Terminal holding on for dear life as we rounded corners at speed dipping and swaying with the cobbles.
On the way down the Royal Mile, the bus slowed down at a bus stop allowing me a somewhat fuzzy blip of some mural decoration on the wall of the Scottish Parliament.
If ever there was a bigger waste of over Four hundred Million pounds, I can't think of it , although the botched tram scenario comes a close second.
The building is a constant drain on public money with the need for attention and expensive repairs. To His Lordship and me it is an eyesore and should never been awarded to a Spanish architect unversed in the Scottish climate, by Donald Dewar, a decent man but with no artistic or architectural background. The ONLY redeeming feature is the round debating chamber inside.
His Lordship thought those architraves look like question marks which he thinks asks the question 'why', while I think they look like axes which I think are pertinent symbols for the building.
The whole edifice is over embellished and fussy and looks completely out of place alongside its ancient neighbours. There now, I have had my rant.
