Damsel in Distress
Continuation of my desperate measures to pep up potential Emergency Blipping with recently purchased iPhone accessories. Here is today's try with the little Macro lens attachment (as distinct from the separate microscope attachement used last week) and which actually comes as a pair with a wide angle lens that screws directly onto it.
I think this is the dried out exo-skeleton of a Small Red Damselfly rather than a Dragon Fly. I am not entirely sure as to whether this is the actual dead and desicated beastie, or simply the shuck of a previous stage. I suspect they only cast their skins whilst metamorphosing from the nymphal larvae, but stand to be corrected.
This is a picture of it sat on the big veiny leaf of an old Castor Oil plant in the garden. I must come clean and admit to moving fly to the plant to contrast wing and leaf veining (not sure if it is a cardinal Blip-Sin to move things artificially, but it was found in an uninspiring dusty corner).
The dilemma with this lens is that it is much easier getting an unshakey and focused shot with the iPhone inside on the table and held close by a little tripod, but there is so much more to see out in the garden, where the hand-held option is the only viable one.
Postscript: Just realised the cross-over of this kind of mirrors this XXX Marks the Spot blip of a few weeks back. Maybe I will try to find a third and make a cool Triptych.
