What a day

One of my Uist Summer Wine colleagues suggested a stroll around Udal to check out some of the sites there threatened by erosion. The forecast isn't bad he says. How right he was.
Always an impressive spot, the sky was almost cloudless, snow on the far hills of Harris and hardly any wind. All contributed to a walk where the archaeology was almost incidental. The only footprints on this beach, before our sturdy size 11s, were a set of Otter paw prints.
As a harbinger of winter, I saw my first Snow Buntings of the year when a flock of nine drifted past us on the shore. They were probably about two months late in that harbinger role.
