Christmas lights

St Stephens Presbyterian Church on Jervois Rd, Ponsonby. I noticed this on the way home from last night's prowling, but it was too dark. So I made a mental note to come back tonight if the sky was clear.
I was surprised to read in an old on-line newspaper item that there was some suggestion that 2012 might be the last Christmas this building would ever see. Apparently it needed earthquake strengthening but the church didn't have sufficient funds. Clearly the dilemma has been overcome (maybe only temporarily?), but I haven't been able to find any detail.
