The Drive

We needed a Saturday flop so had to cancel all plans. It is the price you pay for a hectic work week sadly. Social life suffers.

It rained incessantly all day but we didn't care. We had croissants in front of the fire in the lounge and stayed in our PJs until lunchtime.

After lunch, we started to get stir crazy but as the weather was still biblical we decided a drive out was in order. I remember going for a drive out when we were kids. Packed into the back of the car, condensation on the window. Here I was a grown up doing the same thing. It did make me laugh.

We drove with no purpose and ended up in Knutsford (it really is very pretty and much closer than I realise to where we live now) and made our way to a cute tea shop on a cobbled street for cake. It was the perfect place to hole up from the rain with Christmas music playing and a train that ran round the edge of the cafe with Santa on board - Squidge loved it!

Home with Talksport blaring (does Stan Collymore sleep in the Talksport studios - he is NEVER not on!) and I went to my office to work for four hours while Angus and Squidge watched movies.

Opened a bottle of wine for X Factor which made the final much less painful. All in all, a pretty good day!
