Russian painting

when I went to Russia a few years back to visit some projects supported by Tearfund we were given presents from our hosts of pictures like these. each one was different and depicted different seasons. They are painted on slices of birch and embellished with chips of stones (leaves and flowers).
We were there at Easter (we had 2 Easters that year) and the trees were still bare - or with some snow on - but the forests would be spectacular in spring and autumn.
Not a very exciting day today, though Mr Rat was out for an exceedingly muddy run this evening.
