Jelly Ear Fungus

I joint led today's walk with the walking group today and managed to avoid getting the group lost or losing anyone.

I saw this clump of Jelly Ear fungus which used to be called Jew's Ear Fungus but was changed as it was considered very PC. It was named after Judas Iscariot who was supposed to have hanged himself from an elder tree and the fungus often grows on the elder.

It's edible, I tried it once on a fungus foray. It's very chewy and not a food that I'd be in a hurry to eat again
