The Green Green Grass Of Home

Jazzy dog and I spent the day home alone catching up with domestic stuff. We found this single cock's-foot grass seedhead drenched in rain droplets. It's more beautiful than any manufactured Christmas decoration.

This highly nutritive grass is much liked by cattle and is food for the caterpillars of skippers, browns and speckled woods. The reflection of a yellow bramble leaf can be seen in some of the raindrops.
