Short-Eared Owl

Me and Dad drove over to Les Landes this afternoon, and I noticed this Short-Eared Owl perched on a gatepost. We pulled alongside, but it flew off before I could take any shots, it landed on a fence in a field slightly further along the road, and I managed to get some decent photos of it from the car. We had no idea what sort of owl it was until we got back home and I looked in the bird book.
