Christmas cocktail party at ours last night, an annual thing which resulted in the emptying of 20 beer bottles, 13 prosecco, 6 fizzy water, 2 cassis, 2 red wine and 1 70% Dominican Republic rum...

There was a spirited game of a version of scrabble - was it possible to use all of the magnetic tiles making only rude words...although a lot of explanation was needed, the fact that roger is also a verb in British English came as a surprise to the Americans. Needless to say, this is not a grammar lesson I'll be sharing with my students.
