It seems no time since the Advent Candle was lit and now it is half way down.  It reminds me how for some, although life may be ending in the not too distant future, there are people who bring light into their lives.
I have the greatest of admiration for many who care for the elderly or infirm.  To some it may seem a poorly paid and fairly lowly job but judging by the carers who tended to my father when he was at home and now my mother, almost all of them say they genuinely enjoy the work and it gives them more satisfaction then some of them had in jobs using their degree or professional qualification.  This evening they were saying that they could earn much more but there are few jobs where they can help to make life more manageable and more importantly get to know well the person.  My mother really enjoys the chat with her carers and now we regard them almost as friends as they have also got to know my sister and me very well too and ‘Rudolph and Dancer’  certainly brought us cheer this evening as they popped their heads round the door with their flashing red noses.
