A day when pretty much everything went wrong.

I left various IT security devices at home in the wrong bag.
The Olympic torch procession meant my bus couldn't stop in the middle of Coventry, so I had to walk and missed my train.
I had to walk right past the torch, but couldn't get a clear picture of it.
My security pass wouldn't work when I got to the office.
It rained on me.

So I went to the Bomber Command Memorial again,to get some perspective.

The odd thing about this shot is that the statue is very black, but has come out in the colour version almost white and very ghostly.

It is very touching to read the flowers people have left, most of which are to the memory of brothers and fathers .

And to lighten the mood a little I did have some good news; I've been invited to speak at a conference in Dublin in October. It will be good to get back to a city that, like Edinburgh, I once knew very well.
