Candle making
What an absolutely horrible day, it's never stopped raining, from the minute we got up....and it's still pouring! I hope those folk further north are not being overcome again!
We went to the shops locally, got wet through, and haven't stepped over the threshold again at all!!!
We had a treat, a full English brunch, which we hardly ever have, it was so nice! As was our tapas meal last night.......with plenty of red wine too, I forgot all about being tired ;-) we went into our neighbours house for a coffee and a brandy before coming back here around 11.30pm.
I've put up the christmas cards today. Then, looking around for something else to do, decided to empty out that glass display cabinet I blipped a few days back, and washed all the crockery, in readiness for Christmas Day, ( well I put it in the dishwasher !! Lol)
Then, what next.....decided to have a play with some old part used candles, made a double boiler type thingy, using an old tin pot over a pan of boiling water...melted the candles, and then poured it into this candle holder that I had kept cause I really like it. I re-used one of the wicks, used an old bent skewer to keep it upright.....it's currently setting firm again and smells really nice, a mixture of vanilla and pine....it's a pale green colour. So a successful Saturday afternoon of messing about ;-)
I was surprised by all the colours in this shot when I uploaded it. I hadn't noticed the blue hour through the window, which is reflected back off the marble island :-)
