Snowdrops

Today's the day .......................... for signs of life

In normal times, we would have sent our local Christmas cards courtesy of the 4th Kendal Scout Group.

It was a scheme that worked for everyone.  We got our cards delivered for a fraction of the price charged by the Royal Mail - and the Scouts raised lots of money for all the things that they wanted to do.  You just needed to buy some of their special stamps (see below), mark your envelope with the area of Kendal that it was going to - and then post your card in one of their post boxes.  They were all set to do it this year too - when the floods came and invaded their scout hut, soaking the cards that were already there, being stored and sorted before delivery.

It's just one of the many sad stories that are all too common around here at the moment.  I did notice one thing though today that really did gladden my heart.  Oblivious to everything, the snowdrops are pushing their way up through the soil - a sign of new life to come again ........................
