Fallen Beech

A huge beech tree came down in the woodland at Minsteracres the night before last.  This is a cross section of the trunk waiting to be sawn up for firewood.  The manager said that trees here are short lived because of the proliferation of fungi attacking the roots.  Fortunately, many of the 300 young trees that have just been planted are thriving.
The extra is a barn with a splendid roof.
