Diary of an Edinburgher

Coffee culture Aussie style!

We arrived at 6am, after a long and not too wonderful flight. The charming Stevan of yesterday's flight was replaced by some very pretty, but rather surly stewardesses, who gave the impression that they thought the passengers were all a bit of a nuisance. Granted, some of them were, but that's their job (stewardesses, not passengers)...

You know how irritated I get by my fellow travellers' uncouth behaviour when merely travelling by bus, so magnify this by 100 (nearby passengers), add in freezing cold air conditioning, horrible food and a surly conductor, multiply the journey by a million (maths was never my strong point) and you get the idea.

However, we made it, and we were greeted by our friend G and the promise of a lovely Sydney day (it's been very wet).

G went off to work, and after a freshen up, we went for a coffee (there's a surprise) in Balmain. Spoilt for choice!

We had a wander round Balmain, and got down to the harbour. G had thought we could go to Cockatoo Island to see some of the biennale. Out in the harbour to an island to see an art installation! What fun!

But we both began to feel a bit jaded after our wander round (we got lost), and in fact, JR doesn't feel too well at all. We came back to the house and had a rest. In a horizontal position. With no noise.

So this photo is one of only a few taken today. It's quite a typical scene. Lots of cafes, outdoor seating, and funnily enough, lots of 'For Lease' signs in the town too. I love the beautiful iron fretwork on all the balconies.

So it's an early night and hopefully make more use of the day tomorrow. We're in Sydney! My most favourite city in the world!

Hopefully have time for some catching up and commenting this evening!
