They're so BIG!!!
Went out to visit the egrets today!! WOW!! They have changed so much. They are so much cuter, whiter and bigger! Still have the cute white fuzz balls on top of their heads. Most of them are so close to leaving the nest but a few nests still have some quite young ones still. This photo I chose is of a fledgeling that only made it so far. It was on this branch quite close to the road, but safe. I may run back out tomorrow to see if it flew on. So adorable! I took about 200 shots but narrowed it down to about 30 if you want to take a PEEK!! Some of the shots are of the nests I have put on blip in the past. One nest even has 4 little ones! I wonder how they all fit as they have gotten bigger? What a thrill this has been to follow the progress of these beautiful birds!
After visiting the egrets, Glenn and I decided to drive out to a lake that we have not been to yet. Since we were already on the back side of the mountain we decided to try to get to it from here rather than go all the way around, like smart people do! It was a beautiful drive then the paved road got narrow, then it got more broken up, then the paved road was gone. Most folks would have probably turned around at that time. Not us. We moved on. It wasn't a bad sort of gravel dirt road. There were even houses. With mailboxes, meaning that a mailman goes all the way out there. wow. The road followed a pretty creek/river and it was so lush and green. We even passed a motorcycle going the other way. After a bit we wished he would have warned us of what was to come. The 'nice' dirt road turned into some kind of 4wheel drive big rock pot hole kind of backwoods trail. We don't have that kind of vehicle. It's just a car. At least we have 4wheel drive! We finally found a place to safely turn around. We joked that a group of people that were sitting around a fire a ways back probably all bet on how long it would take for us to come back by! :) All I did was pray that we would make it out of there without a flat tire. We had no cell service. It all turned out fine as we breathed a sigh of relief as we got back on the main road back to Coos Bay!! Whew....
Quite the adventure
We had a super day at the store! Great start to the new month. Maybe everyone has decided to work since we aren't really having a summer yet :)
Hope everyone's weekend turned out well
Happy Sunday
