The beautiful Isle of Skye
A very early start and out of the house at 6 am. Drove to Skye and arrived just in time to watch the sunrise above the Mountains on the mainland. Dropped David off and then went down to Armadale Pier. To be honest we needed the loo and did nt have the right money, 30p, to go in the toilets at Kyle of Lochalsh. We only had 50p and I was nt going to spend that much to spend a penny lol.
The wind was quite strong and the sea fairly rough which is nt unusual but the ferry to Mallaig had been cancelled for the rest of the day. We walked out to the end of the pier. The sea was an amazing colour and the sky a shade of pink.
'The Shed' was open so we had a warming cup of tea and a filling bacon roll. Then into Ragamuffin, a shop full of wonderful, colourful clothes, one day I will afford an item of clothing from there ! We did buy a few little presents.
On to the Ord Loop with a stop at Tokavaig for a short walk for me. I love this secluded beach, just me and the cows and an otter fishing just in front of me. The stones are of all colours, shapes and sizes. You can just about see the ruins of Dunscaith Castle. Built in the 1300's it is the oldest castle on Skye. It is said that it was built in just one night with the help of a witch. Not much remains now, in fact I think there is less and less each time we see it.
We stopped again in Ord and another walk on the beach. The sea was a great shade of blues and greens.
Back to Broadford for lunch and then home and surprisingly the weather was good, mild, dry and not too windy.
A few more lovely things that happened was a free gift from Ragamuffin and also spotting a bunch of flowers in some toilets on the way, left ' for the lady who does a great job of keeping the toilets clean, from a regular customer ' , how nice :)
