iridescent fly...

...playing with a waterdrop

or perhaps - trying to burst it...

one minute i was looking at the drop - the next there was this insect on it - and then it was gone - boo...

i wasn't even certain i'd gotten it in the shot until i processed it... then was only the one picture - actually turning up in focus - an interesting appearing fly isn't it? i have never seen anything like it before... all shimmery iridescent green and pink and yellow - so very tiny, too... this shot was taken using one of my cheap-o, screw on macro lens so it's magnified by 4 times - and the leaf it's on is a very small rose bush leaf perhaps - an inch and a half long...

nature is simply amazing - so staggering in its beauty... what it has to offer us in design - color - shape... sometimes happening so very quickly we need to be constantly aware - senses heightened so as not to miss anything - for it always leads to...
