Holme Fen

Apparently, a large part of Holme Fen has now dried out and it has become home to a large silver birch forest.  This shows the tail end of the woodland as it trails off into a field.

I didn't have time to get into the woodland - it was only a quick recce stop. However, I fully intend to return: the woods looked extremely inviting and a friendly dog-walking couple gave me lots of tips about places and parking and the lakes which are hidden within.

To top it off, red kites were circling.  I need a longer lens...
