Spent a couple of vexatious hours wrestling the un-helpful Dyson into all corners of the flat - and jeez, what a racket it makes. Designed by a man, I expect.

It's shocking reading about the flooding in Cumbria and the Borders - a month's rain falling in 24 hours, I think I saw? I'm glad to see that trevorearthy and co are safe and dry (even if their house isn't). I am supposed to be travelling to MK by train tomorrow, so am looking into alternatives to the W Coast mainline. These may involve Manchester Piccadilly; there's even an outside chance of Tamworth. :-(
