Cumbria Here I Come

Egrit

A lovely sunny day today in complete contrast to the last few days.  I was lucky to see this Egrit looking for food this morning.  A quite day at home today, wasn't going to risk getting stuck in any floods! Managed to fill two wheelie bins with brambles and stinging nettles and the garden looks better for it!  Was very surprised to see the Snowdrops starting to peep through already.

I tried to get to my sunset bridge tonight but didn't get very far as the road out the village was flooded.  I did the sensible thing and turned around and took some photos of the road with flooded field instead see extras!  Somebody else who needed to get his mother's cat to the local cattery decided to try and get through only to return a few minutes later after seeing how deep it was when the tractor went through!

Just heard on the news and seen pictures of Pooley Bridge nr Penrith which has collapsed!!  Carlisle which they hoped would never flood again after 2005 and spending millions on flood defences stood no chance with Storm Desmond.   The army are in Carlisle helping to rescue people from their flooded homes.  They are also saying that the rainfall was the  highest ever recorded!  The pictures of homes across Cumbria which have been flooded is awful and my heart goes out to everybody who has been affected especially the ones I know!
