A Day By The Bay
This morning started with a cup of New Zealand Breakfast Tea, some fresh fruit and a good book, while taking in the morning from a seat on our patio. It was nice to have a slow Sunday morning after the hustle and bustle of Singapore. Yesterday our host informed us of a local farmers market, just down the end of our road, so we decided to check it out. The market was fantastic with so much fresh, delicious produce. There were cheese stalls, wine stalls, condiment stalls, crepe stalls, meet stalls, a stall selling every type of nut on the planet, a huge fresh vegetable/fruit stand, a stall that sold fresh fruit juice, a stall selling yoghurt with super-food toppings, vibrant cafes and a paella stand. We only went to the market for a look but came back with four bags worth of produce! Safe to say we will be eating well for the next couple of days!
What was fantastic about the market was the fact the far majority of people there were locals, coming down for food and a catch up. There was a friendly bustle to the market, with people enjoying a sunny Sunday. The food was also very organically, health orientated with a lot of produce aimed at the healthy life (apart from one ice cream stand, which seemed to be doing pretty well).
After the market we decided to explore our neighbourhood further and found it to be a delightful, relaxed, picturesque suburb of Auckland. We walked down to the local shops and through a huge rose garden, which was home to over 100 species of roses. Then we took a scenic walk through the local park, Dove-Myer Robinson Park, to a viewpoint overlooking the city and the bay. The photo was taken overlooking Auckland bay, at Judges Bay, where my feet went for a quick paddle in the bright blue water.
