Not All About the Sparkles
Nothing blingy about the Blast Beach on Durham's coast. The coal industry tipped their crud over the cliff for about a hundred years.
The sea is now reclaiming the beach, but it's going to take a while. As well as the coal waste there are the remains of countless bits of machinery, pipes, conveyor belts, bolts, railways lines... therockpools are encrusted with rusting spanners and drill bits... it's fascinating and sad and extraordinary - feels almost prehistoric some days.
But I love it. Even today when the wind gusted up to 60 mph
