A Very British Christmas In Berlin
German church goers pay tax .This has to be declared on their tax return . It pays for the upkeep of churches etc .
In Brtain there is no such tax so it is up to the parish to fund their church .Whatever else we may or may not be , we British are amazing at getting together to raise money . No expectations that the state must do all . Today I went along to St George's British Church in Berlin .Situated in Preußen Allee it does have lots of events and a very multicultural congregation. The weather was wonderful and all around the grounds were booths selling arts , crafts , bric a brac , food , Tombola the lot. I headed for the cafe to sample the variety of cakes, ensuring I bought and brought some home. Glühwein was welcome and it was fun sitting outside drinking this whilst the singers provided us with many of the well known hymns .Count down continues . My blip is the inside of St Georges where the nativity scene is beautiful The singers are super imposed.
A Very Happy Second Advent to all .
