And it is still raining

It has rained non-stop for well over 24 hours and shows no sign of stopping even now. We are too high up to be in any danger of flooding, but we are 'marooned', in that the roads at both ends of the village are impassable.  The River Eden has burst its banks in Appleby causing horrendous flooding of houses, with people being rescued by boat or sheltering in the upper floors of their houses. What a mess!
