Statue

I had heard that on an equestrian statue, the number of hooves in the air denoted how the rider died -
One hoof in the air - wounded in battle, and may have died subsequently of wounds.
Two hooves in the air - died in battle.

Complete twaddle as it turns out.

This is the Duke of Wellington outside Register House in Edinburgh.
